The following video was taken as Mexican president Felipe Calderon speaks to a joint meeting of the United States’ congress in 2010. In his address, Felipe Calderon acknowledges that more needs to be done to end the flow of drugs into the United States and he promises to do everything in his power to do so. He follows by asking the United States’ congress to do their part and help stop the flow of weapons into Mexico. This video enforces the idea that the Mexican drug war and the drug on wars are joint constructions and they would not exist if they did not feed off each other. After decades of fighting the suppliers of drugs with no success, Mexico and the United States need to focus on eliminating the source of revenue of these cartels and they will do so by decriminalizing the consumption of drugs. This video proves that the drug war in Mexico and the war on drugs in the United States a joint construction between the United States and Mexico.
